Palazzola Summer Music Camp Scholarship

Provisions

The non-renewable grant will be issued to an approved summer music camp by the Palazzola Family Foundation.

 
Criteria

Applicant must be a returning upper class member of the VBHS Band for the coming school year;

Applicant must have demonstrated promise as a developing musician and be viewed as a positive upward leader in the program;

Applicant must have a grade point average of at least a 2.5 (un-weighted) or better;

 
Number of Scholarships Awarded / Amount

The number of scholarships in a given year will be determined by the selection committee with the amount not to exceed actual cost of tuition, room and board, and other directly related camp expenses. Maximum amount allocated shall not exceed $500.  Checks will be paid directly to the music camp upon presentation of a completed registration form and confirmation of acceptance by the camp. 

 
Section Committee

A selection committee shall be comprised of two performance arts faculty members and the principal or his designate.

 
Requirements

Completed Official Application

A copy of the latest Report Card

A personal resume of all high school and community activities.  Include leadership positions held, honors won, and all musical accomplishments achieved

One letter of recommendation from a member of the faculty (other than band directors) and One letter of recommendation from a member of the community:

An Eassy in the following format must be included:
 

Paragraph 1 -

 What you have contributed to the VBHS Band;

 
 

Paragraph 2 -

What you have gained from participation in the VBHS Band

 
 

Paragraph 3 -

How you will use the knowledge gained from the proposed music camp to better yourself and the VBHS Band

 
 

Paragraph 4 -

Close with any final comments about your future goals as a musician

 

Evaluation Form from the VBHS Band Directors will be provided to the selection committee  
 
Other Provisions

All applications are confidential and will be held by the selection committee indefinitely;

The recipient of the scholarship will be notified by the committee and will receive the award at the VBHS Band Awards night depending on the time set by the committee.

Funds may be withheld if it is determined that the student has misrepresented him/herself in any way to the selection committee.

Any student receiving the scholarship must fully participate in the VBHS Band program for the full year following the award.  Failure to do so will result in the student being obligated to the school to repay the funds spent on their behalf and the school will take appropriate action to recover the funds in full.

Scholarship funds must be used in the immediate summer following the award.   There is no escrow or rollover of funds for future use.

Funding for all scholarships is pending funds available for 2012.  The various scholarship boards and or the Fighting Indians Band Boosters will determine whether or not funds will be available for scholarships this year as applicable to each individual scholarship.  Unfortunately due to the current budget situations some or all of the scholarships listed MAY not be funded.  Final decisions as to funding will be announced prior to May 15, 2012.
