Fighting Indians Band Boosters General Band and Flag Corps Band Camp Scholarship

The general purpose of this scholarship is to assist deserving band/flag corps students with financial assistance for the cost of band camp. Scholarships will be awarded provided funds are available.

 
Selection Criteria

Applicant must be a fully participating member of the VBHS Band/Flag Corps in good standing.
Each applicant must establish a definite need and document circumstances that establish reasonable need or hardship.
Applicant and parent or guardian must attend an interview with the band director/flag instructor.
 
Application Requirements

Applicant must submit the official scholarship application in its entirety.  The application must be signed by both the student and the parent or guardian and be notarized.;

Applicant must submit the scholarship contract and policies document.  This document must be signed by both the student and the parent or guardian and be notarized.

Applicant must include a detailed letter signed by both the student and the parent or guardian stating specifically circumstances and the reasons you are requesting financial assistance.

The student and parents are required to participate in the Fair Share Fundraising Program on an ongoing basis.

It is expected that scholarships be fully or partially repaid to the extent possible over the course of the school year.  Monthly or periodic payments may be made at any time.

Parents are expected to be current participating members of the “Fighting Indians Band Boosters, Inc.” and expected to contribute their efforts in fundraising and volunteer hours throughout the school year.
 
Source of Funding

Funds for these scholarships will be provided as a regular budget item by the Fighting Indians Band Boosters, Inc. provided funds are available.  The Board of Directors of the Fighting Indians Band Boosters, Inc. will determine the number of scholarships awarded in a given year.

 
Other Provisions

Applications will be reviewed by the Band Directors and the Finance Committee of the Fighting Indians Band Boosters in the strictest of confidence.

Failure on the part of the student and/or parent to comply with the contract/policies will establish proper cause to revoke the scholarship and require repayment of funds.  In addition, such failure will disqualify the student from any future scholarship.  In this event, unpaid balances will be turned over to the school administration for collection.

 

Funding for all scholarships is pending funds available for 2012.  The various scholarship boards and or the Fighting Indians Band Boosters will determine whether or not funds will be available for scholarships this year as applicable to each individual scholarship.  Unfortunately due to the current budget situations some or all of the scholarships listed MAY not be funded.  Final decisions as to funding will be announced prior to May 7, 2012.
